Our Story

At Housing Families, we are a nonprofit organization working to achieve housing equity and well-being for all.

Our roots began in 1986 when local community members created an organization to address the crisis of homelessness in the Greater Boston cities of Malden, Medford, and Everett.

Since our inception, we’ve expanded our services to include homeless shelters and housing stabilization programs, academic services, free legal services, and therapy and counseling, among other services. Additionally, our nonprofit operates a housing stabilization program, and has grown into one of the largest operators of affordable housing for homeless and very low-income families in Massachusetts.
