Annual Housing Families 5K: Powered by BOND

Started in 2020 as a virtual 5K amidst the pandemic, the Housing Families 5K serves as a meaningful way to come together for Homelessness Awareness Week in November. Participants can run, walk, or hike—from wherever they are, or join us in-person to complete the 5K along the Malden River at the River’s Edge Park. The event is followed by an afterparty at The Porch!

This year, the 5K will be held on November 12, 2023, with the virtual race held all weekend. More details to come soon.

Young Professionals Advisory Council Events

The Young Professional Advisory Council (YPAC) are young volunteer leaders who partner with Housing Families to learn about housing advocacy, build their networks and community relationships, and grow their professional skillsets, while striving to achieve housing equity and well-being for all.

YPAC’s 2023 Spring Fundraiser Event was a successful Community Art Night! Check back here for future events.

Legislative Breakfast

The 2023 Legislative Breakfast was held on April 13th at Anthony’s of Malden.

Housing Families holds the Legislative Breakfast each spring to give our clients and community a platform to advocate to Massachusetts policymakers for funding and legislation to support health and affordable housing. The Breakfast also provides an update on our housing and health equity efforts across Greater Boston, particularly in Malden, Chelsea, Everett, Revere, and Melrose. This year the Breakfast was presented by our Medical Advisory Committee.

We honored Revere Mayor Brian Arrigo for his leadership in launching the Revere Warming Center and Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association for their advocacy and policy in affordable housing.
