Housing Families’ growth relies on our board, committees, and volunteers who dedicate time, talent, and expertise to moving our mission forward! The various services we provide offers numerous opportunities for involvement that can be tailored to your interests.

GREAT Youth & Families Tutoring Program

Our largest volunteer program is our GYFP after-school tutors, where no teaching experience is necessary to volunteer. After-school tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with children to complete homework and play academic games. All volunteers will receive training and support to ensure your volunteer experience is both productive and enjoyable. Click here for the application to volunteer.

Volunteer Groups

If you’re planning a company outing or volunteer day, or are involved in a community group, we welcome your help! From property maintenance projects at our properties, to volunteering at our pantry, our volunteer opportunities will engage your entire group.  Contact us to discuss options and identify how your organization can make the most impact in the communities we support.

Board of Directors

Board members have a unique opportunity to serve as part the governing body of the organization. Their purpose is to set policy, perform short term and long-term planning and oversee the financial viability of the agency. Board members will take further action by connecting with other dedicated donors and volunteers, and nurturing a community of giving.

Young Professionals Advisory Council

Join young professionals in your area to to learn about housing advocacy, build your network and community relationships, and grow your professional skillset, all while striving to achieve housing equity and well-being for all.

Youth Service & Engagement Program

We prepare the leaders of tomorrow through our Youth Service and Engagement Program (YSEP), which encourages more compassionate youth by providing volunteer opportunities and educating on them on the impact of trauma and homelessness on their community and peers.

YSEP is a free educational, volunteer program for students in grades 7-12. Students complete a volunteer service project, learning tangible ways to make a difference in their community and building skills they can use in their careers and future social justice and service work. They also get to hear from Housing Families leaders in housing and health advocacy, as well as special guests, and discuss what they learned.

Medical Advisory Committee

Housing Families implemented this committee to bring partners in the medical and social services fields together to strategize how to medically enhance Housing Families’ services; remove access barriers to wellbeing and health services for members of our communities; build strong partnerships with local healthcare providers; and influence policy changes that support healthier communities.

Development Committee

The Development Committee nurtures a culture of philanthropy throughout Housing Families and supports the organization’s fundraising efforts.

Community Resource Program

As our pantry continues to grow, we require assistance with collecting food donations and the distribution of goods. Join us to sort food and housewares, unload supplies, host a food drive, and/or make deliveries to families.
