Role Purpose & Responsibilities
Purpose
The GREAT Youth and Families Program (GYFP) is a therapeutic youth program for homeless and formerly homeless children that offers individual counseling, therapy groups, academic tutoring, and enrichment. Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the support staff will provide homework assistance, communicate information to families, and maintain a safe, healthy, warm, and engaging environment. The support staff may be asked to serve as a liaison between the school, parent, and the program in order to support the academic and social emotional success of the student.
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, support staff will support youth in the Saturday School program by setting up the space as needed, ensuring group/individual curricula is organized and followed, and clean up the space as outlined in programs notes.
- Upon youth’s arrival to program, transition youth to their assigned activities and support coordinators in managing group tutoring and enrichment spaces.
- Work with staff, volunteers, teachers, and parents to assess student baselines and evaluate progress, planning and facilitating the implementation of interventions to support learning needs.
- Communicate information to families, youth, and program when necessary.
- Support in the preparation of innovative and age-appropriate curricula for each child.
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with parents, teachers, volunteers, and children.
- Embed principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in volunteers, undergrad interns and supervised staff.
- Handle crises as they arise.
- Act as the back up van driver, when needed, to support youth in coming to program and transitioning home.
- Participate in All Staff meetings and other identified trainings and meetings.
- Support the program in any additional projects.

- Responsible and professional conduct that serves as a role model to staff, volunteers, and youth.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Must demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and understanding of virtual educational platforms such as Google Classroom and Zoom.
- Investment in non-violent conflict resolution, confronting racism, sexism, and other injustices, and helping children and families heal and grow.

Eligibility Requirements
- Ability to form strong interpersonal relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be fluent in English
- Must be able to pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background check
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time walking up and down flights of stairs
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk while working on a computer

- Compensation/Hours: $30.00/hour; Saturday’s 8:30a-1:00p from 2/24-4/27
- Mandatory Training on 2/17 from 10a-2p
