HOUSING FAMILIES SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS

Housing Families strives to provide safe and inclusive environments that provides students an opportunity to engage in individual and group tutoring, individual and group counseling, and enrichment activities. This past spring, Housing Families had the opportunity to partner with Malden and Peabody Public Schools and facilitated 3 separate 10-week programs to give students access to enrichment programs.

These programs included a Saturday School and Extended Saturday School programs with Malden Public Schools and a Sunday School Program in partnership with Peabody public Schools. In these programs, Housing Families utilized strength-based, culturally appropriate, and trauma-informed approaches to evaluate the needs of each individual and establish goals for each student to increase their social-emotional skills. These programs include:

In partnership with Malden Public Schools, Housing Families facilitated a 10-week Saturday School program with youth in first-sixth grade. The program supported youth that attend Malden Public Schools who are currently unhoused.

Again in partnership with Malden Public Schools (MPS), Housing Families supported the 11-school aged youth, who attend MPS and also live at one of our emergency hotel shelters in Malden. This program was able to take youth out of the hotel and focus on community learning experiences and field trips.

In partnership with Peabody Public Schools (PPS), Housing Families supported 30 6th-12th grade students who attend PPS. In addition to enrichment and educational programming at the hotel, we were also able to facilitate field trips weekly. This program ran for 10 consecutive weeks.

We are so grateful to all the local schools we work with for helping us provide these critical services for youth in our community.
