Housing Families hosts and participates in many fundraising and outreach events and drives in the community every year. These events are crucial for our mission of ending family homelessness in Massachusetts. Volunteers are a big part of the success of these events. Helping out at events to hosting a drive for household supplies, we have many opportunities for you to get involved.
Do you want to get involved with Housing Families’ mission to end family homelessness but are unable to make a long term commitment? Are you interested in meeting new people who share your enthusiasm for giving back to the community?
Throughout the year Housing Families hosts and participates in many events to raise money or awareness for our mission of ending family homelessness. All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to engage with staff, other volunteers and event attendees!
For a family living on the edge of homelessness, the cost of household items can be a huge obstacle. You can help by hosting a drive for needed items. Housing Families has two main drives each year – our annual Backpack Drive that collects backpacks and school supplies for the children in our programs and our annual Gift Drive which allows families to “shop” for gifts for their children during the holiday and for birthdays throughout the year.
In the past, individuals and organizations have held their own drives to provide cleaning supplies, diapers, linens (twin or double bed sheets, pillows, towels, blankets, etc.), household goods (pots and pans, plates, flatware, etc.), fans to help families stay cool in the summer, and even art supplies for our GREAT Youth and Family Program.
