Housing Families Inc., a Malden-based agency that strives to end family homelessness, is offering the community an opportunity to give back to others during the holidays and learn more about its programs.
Housing Families joins charities across the world by participating in #GivingTuesday, a charitable giving event to take place on Dec. 1. #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and kicks off the holiday giving season, inspiring people to give back to the charities and causes they support.
Housing Families is launching a month-long campaign to raise $3,000, to help children and families who are experiencing homelessness.
Those interested in joining the #GivingTuesday initiative may visit Housing Families’ Facebook page throughout November to donate and learn about other ways to participate.
Celebrating 30 years, Housing Families Inc. was founded in 1986 by community members concerned about the growing crisis of homelessness among families in the cities of Everett, Malden and Medford.
The organization has grown into one of the largest providers of family shelter in Massachusetts. Over 2,800 families have been helped since Housing Families Inc. first opened its doors. HFI’s central mission is to help families build the skills and understanding they need to make a successful transition into their own home and to prevent any recurrence of homelessness.
HFI is hosting its 30th anniversary gala on April 23, 2016.
