Housing Families Inc. Names New Board Members



Housing Families Inc. (HFI), a non-profit organization that provides support services to homeless families and children in Greater Boston, is pleased to announce the appointment of four new board members.


“Housing Families’ new board members bring a variety of skills and leadership experience to a dedicated board of directors. I am excited to have such passionate people help us bring awareness to the issue of family homelessness in Massachusetts. Our staff and current board look forward to partnering with our new members”, stated Jim Goebelbecker, Chief Executive Officer of Housing Families.


The new board members are: Said Ali, Markell Blount, Chelley Casey and Gloria Craven.


Said Ali of Malden is an Audit Partner for Grant Thornton LLP. He has over 18 years of US and international audit and accounting experience specializing in the financial services industry including investment companies, broker-dealers and specialty finance companies. The Boston Business Journal named Said in their 2013 class of 40 under 40 honorees, business and civic leaders who collectively represent the wave of talent and commitment in the Boston economy.


Markell Blount of Boston is an Associate Vice President in DTZ’s Corporate Advisory Services Group. He is responsible for new business development and providing brokerage services to clients in Cambridge and various Boston submarkets.  Markell is currently an advisory board member at Self Help Africa and also volunteers as a pitch panelist at the Possible Project.


Chelley Casey of Watertown is the Director of Patient Services at Vertex Pharmaceuticals. She has 15 years of bio-tech commercial experience, spanning Patient Services and Marketing and Sales Operations. Chelley  has also served on the Mentor Committee for the Healthcare Businesswoman’s Association.


Gloria Craven of Medford is the Managing Member and Co-Founder of Craven & Ober Policy Strategists, LLC.  She has been involved in Massachusetts politics for more than twenty years, and her fields of experience include: political strategy, legislative process and grassroots mobilization. Gloria has served as President of the board of the Mass Health Council and UMass Dartmouth Alumni Association and also served on the board of the Boston Chamber of Commerce Women’s Advisory. Gloria currently serves on the UMass Club Board of Governors.
