10/17/2018: HFI’s Breaking Barriers Breakfast
|Event Date||10/17/2018 7:30 AM|
“Children experiencing homelessness were more often hungry, sick, and worried where their next meal and bed would come from; they wondered if they would have a roof over their heads at night and what would happen to their families. Children often developed more slowly. Many struggled in school, missing days, repeating grades, and even dropping out of school entirely.”
- Megan Sandel and Matthew Desmond, “Investing in Housing for Health Improves Both Mission and Margin.” 2017
Homelessness has a traumatic impact on families and their young children. Here at Housing Families we work one family at a time to improve what otherwise can seem like a hopeless situation.
Housing Families is hosting a Breaking Barriers Breakfast on Wednesday, October 17th.
This event will consist of a panel discussion featuring two prominent physicians, Dr. Ann C. Wu, Associate Professor, Department of Population Medicine, at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute and Dr. Megan T. Sandel, MD, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Boston University Schools of Medicine and Public Health, and Barbara Schwartz, the Director of HFI's GREAT Youth and Families Program. The panel will speak about the correlation between children’s health and housing. We are pleased to invite you to be a sponsor of our 2018 Breaking Barriers Breakfast. This breakfast is one of our new series of events to build awareness and raise funds to support our mission of working to end family homelessness.
