11/02/2012: 2012 Gingerbread House Competition at the Boston Christmas Festival
Thank you to everyone who generously supported Housing Families at the Gingerbread House Competition at this year’s Boston Christmas Festival! Check out a gallery of gingerbread constructions.
13 of the area’s top pastry chefs and companies participated, including Cakes for All Occasions, Empire Asian Restaurant & Lounge, Entertainment Cruises, Finale Desserts, Ginger Betty’s Bakery, Barbara Kirshner, Masonry Doctor & Crew, No. 9 Park, Elizabeth Nietupski &. Fred Esposito, Sweet Things Bakery, Wicked Goodies, and Wilson Farms for WROR Radio.
Chefs reported spending as long as three weeks crafting their masterpieces.
Thanks to these generous donations, Housing Families raised over $4,100 to support homeless children and families in Greater Boston. We’d like to extend a special thank you to Humboldt Storage and Moving Company for delivering the purchased houses to guests, free of charge.
Wicked Goodies’ Kristen Coniaris spectacular entry was voted Best in Show by local celebrity judges and their children and was auctioned at Housing Families’ 25th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, November 10. Judges included Maria Stephanos, FOX25 News; Cheryl Fenton, lifestyle writer; Leigh Harrington, Editor, WHERE; Jill Epstein, Editor, Where to Eat & Drink; Julie Fairweather, Editor/Producer, Dirty Water News; Maureen Dahill, Blogger; Caught in Southie; Naomi Kooker, Blogger, Zagat.com; Jill Radsken, Fashion Editor, Boston Herald and Ann Trieger, Food Writer, Boston Globe.
